Grading
We will try to touch on a few points here, why in our opinion the matter of the rating will only continue to gain attention and how it actually helps the actual collecting.
Many ask why even spend money on grading? What good can it do? In order to explain the issue of grading, it is necessary to first touch on the collecting aspect of the preservation of the items.
Every collector knows that the closer the item is to new condition, the condition it was made in and was unused, the higher its value. Collectors are always looking to reach the highest level of the item whether it is a note or a coin, the higher the quality, the higher the demand and people are willing to pay more.
In addition, if the item has undergone some kind of “enhancement” by experts to make the item look more attractive, the authenticity is compromised, and it is often very difficult to notice the process that was done. These long-term operations affect the items and destroy them, often involving chemicals that only after a long period of Time is reflected in the appearance that can be detected by the human eye.
Assuming that you have reached the estate and the monarchy, you have managed to assemble an impressive and high-level collection, how do you intend to protect it from the ravages of time, oxygen, moisture, etc.?
Furthermore, you have spent thousands of dollars on a certain item in your collection and suddenly a similar item appears for sale abroad, you are debating whether the item you have is in better condition (=close to new condition) than the item for sale? How will you decide? According to the pictures that appear on sale? Will you fly to check?
And how will you know if the item is original or not? Assuming you are new to the field or even experienced, today’s fakes are only getting better and better, how will you know if the item presented to you is authentic or not? We can assure you that even those with decades of experience in the field “fell in the trap” of the fraudsters.
The grading solves all these problems, it protects the item from the ravages of time (as long as it is stored in a shady place), the condition of the item is graded using numbers so that it is possible to differentiate the condition by comparing the numbers (for example, a coin that is graded 63 versus a coin that is for sale and graded 64), a problem The distance is of course resolved by the grading, which allows reliance on the experts that graded the item and the problem of authenticity, the very grading indicates originality. The item is examined by 3 experts at a 100x magnification who examine dozens if not hundreds of items every day, they are skilled at finding all the problems that exist on the items and if they do find any they note it in the grading.
