Palestine – Unprinted Emergency Banknote Progressive Proof, 1 Pound 1943 – Front side – PMG 64, 65 EPQ – Extremely Rare
In 1941, the Second World War gripped the whole of Europe, the control of Germany and its allies on the Israel was almost complete, as well as the almost exclusive control of the submarines of the German Navy and the Italian Navy in the Mediterranean basin, this reality damaged the supply lines from Britain to Israel and there was a fear that the reserves of local banknotes and coins would run out And it will be impossible to meet the public’s demand. Therefore, to try and prepare, we ordered from the famous printing house De La Rue, 50, 100 mil and 1,50 pounds denominations and samples were ordered. A number of samples were printed and presented to the decision makers for approval the final product of which very few are known today.
Finally, despite the apprehension and preparations, there was no need to print these bills and therefore they are very difficult to obtain and very few of them are known to be in private hands. Once every few years, they are offered for sale.
