If you are interested in ancient coins or the beginning of banking in the Land of Israel, you should very much read Bank Leumi’s book "From the Zionist Shekel to the Israeli Pound". The book was printed in 2019 and presents an impressive collection of ancient coins as well as banknotes of the State of Israel.

The first part of the book deals with Bank Leumi. The bank formerly known as the "Anglo-Palestine Bank" contributed greatly to Israel’s economy in the pre-state period and was honored to be the body that issued the first banknotes of the State of Israel. The second series of notes – "Bank Leumi Israel Series" – was also issued by Bank Leumi – under its new name. The first part of the book describes the history of the bank since its establishment and describes its economic activity during the pre-state period and after its establishment. Later, the book reviews all the notes issued by Bank Leumi – until the establishment of the Bank of Israel. The review is conducted by Yigal Orkin, an expert on Israeli banknotes and coins
