Hanukka Coin 5738-1977
On the twelfth in the series of Hanukka coins, appears a lamp from Jerusalem, marking the 10th Anniversary of Jerusalem reunited.
The Jerusalem Hanukka Lamp can be seen in the Ethnographic and Folklore Museum in Ramat Aviv. It was apparently designed at the beginning of the 20th century. A legend in silver lettering on brass, reads: ‘This is the Lamp of the house of Rifkah Fardis, Jerusalem".
Obverse:
The face value "10 Lirot" in Hebrew, below "Israel" in Hebrew, English and Arabic and the mint year "5738-1977".
Reverse:
The Jerusalem Hanukka Lamp in bas relief. At the top of the backplate is a raised Star of David and within it, the word: "Zion". Eight oil containers are arranged in a semicircle. In the background, on both sides of the lamp is the legend: "Hanukka Lamp from Jerusalem" and below the words "20th Century".
