Holocaust and extermination camps - a pair of 10 Penning coins 1942 - made of magnesium and aluminum - very rare and come with original certificates from a qualified and authorized source
Germany / Poland / Lodz. Litzmannstadt ghetto. Coin officially issued in 1942. According to a regulation/decree (on July 8, 1940) the Reichsmark, although the ghetto was within the borders of the German Empire at the time, the official means of payment was abolished and the ghetto residents
Litzmannstadt had to exchange their money for (almost worthless) receipts. For this reason the coins and banknotes from the Litzmannstadt ghetto are actually part of the official issues of German coins.
In order to maintain the fiction of Jewish self-government, all bills issued in the ghetto bear a printed signature of
The Elders of the Jews (Romkowski). 10 pence coins were issued (2 different, made of magnesium) as well as 5 and 10 mark pieces.
The materials are aluminum and magnesium, as well as a very small amount of 20 Mark pieces in aluminum. Of all coins, there are more fakes than originals.
