Canada - 100 Dollars 2011 - AU

Obverse: Text in English and French. At the left side is a frosted maple leaf-shaped window, with the denomination below. At the centre is a portrait of Sir Robert Laird Borden, statesman and Prime Minister of Canada from 1911 to 1920. At the right side of the note is a see-through hologram strip with a smaller portrait of Sir Robert Laird Borden at top, a depiction of the East Block of parliament in Ottawa at bottom, and transparent text and the denomination repeated throughout. As well, the hologram strip has a partially translucent border consisting of maple leaves. At the very right side of the note is the denomination once again and the year the note was issued.

Reverse: This side of the note depicts the theme of medical innovation. At left is the denomination and a mirrored image of the hologram strip. At centre is an image of a researcher in a lab-coat at a microscope, signifying Canada’s commitment to medical research and innovation. The microscope shown is based off a Carl Zeiss Axioplan 2. Below is an electrocardiogram (ECG) track. To the right of the ECG track is an early bottle of insulin, one of the most well known Canadian medical innovations.
