Independence Day Coin 2005/5765
57th Anniversary of the State of Israel
Life expectancy in Israel has increased substantially over a relatively short period of time, as a result of the achievements and efficiency of numerous public services, like health care and welfare. This longer life expectancy significantly increases the percentage of adults in the population and clearly, the world no longer belongs only to the young. Many senior citizens enjoy good health and spend a substantial part of their leisure time involved in volunteer activities, contributing socially, economically and culturally to the benefit of all.
The 2004 Independence Day Coin was dedicated to children, while the 2005 coin celebrated Israel’s 57th Anniversary, commemorating the richness and creativity of its senior citizens. The 2005 Independence Day Coin expressed the idea that the child within each and every one of us reaches fulfillment during the Golden Years.
Obverse: Face value in Hebrew and English, Israel State Emblem, "Israel" in English, Hebrew and Arabic, inscription "INDEPENDENCE DAY 2005" in Hebrew and English, a branch of a tree sprouts inwards from the left edge of the coin, appearing as a continuation of the branches on the coin reverse.
Reverse: A densely branched, fruit – bearing tree with strong roots reaching deep underground, as a visual expression of the verse from Psalms "They still bring forth in old age" (not inscribed on the coin). The inscription ‘THE GOLDEN YEARS" appears in Hebrew, English and Arabic.
