Israel – a group of 5 silver medals on the theme of David Ben Gurion – silver, total weight 134g, 125g net

David Ben-Gurion was the first Prime Minister of the State of Israel.
Ben-Gurion was a man of the second aliyah, one of the leaders of the labor movement, a member of the Poalei Zion and Unity of Labor parties, the first general secretary of the General Histadrut of the Workers in Israel and the first leader of Mapai.
He led the State of Israel as Prime Minister and Minister of Defense for ten and a half years until 1963. As the first Prime Minister, he was largely responsible for shaping Israel’s democratic image, for the nature of the interrelationships between different sectors of Israeli society, and for shaping the execution mechanisms of many of the government offices. During his tenure, the reparations agreement with West Germany was signed, the Sinai War was fought, the nuclear reactor was built in Dimona, and hundreds of thousands of immigrants were taken in. After resigning from the Prime Ministership and retiring from MAPI, in 1965 he established the Israel Workers’ List (RAPI). In 1970 he retired from political life.
