Benjamin Ze’ev Theodor Herzl, was a Jewish journalist, jurist, writer, playwright and statesman; The developer of the idea of political Zionism and the founder of Zionism as an institutionalized national-political movement in the Zionist movement, and later in the Jewish public in the Yishuv in the Land of Israel and around the world, as well as in literature, creativity and research. Due to his Zionist work, it is customary to call Herzl "the contract of the state".
Since the convening of the first Zionist Congress in 1897 initiated by Herzl, the Zionist movement has become a political and practical movement, dynamic and significant. Herzl’s ideas found an echo among parts of European Jewry, especially in the East. Despite his diplomatic failures, he succeeded in forging a national Jewish community in the form of the institutions of the Zionist movement, which were the foundation for the establishment of the State of Israel.
