Israel – Extremely rare coin set of 25 Pruta 1949 – SPECIMEN – Bronze, Aluminum, Copernickel – PCGS 63, 64, 65RB
After the end of the British Mandate in Israel and the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948, all banknotes and coins in circulation ceased to be legal tender, and the young state had to quickly issue new banknotes and coins for public use. The first attempt to issue coins in the State of Israel itself was not successful: the quality of the mint was poor, and the pace of production was unsatisfactory. Therefore, it was decided to outsource the issue of coin production in England.
According to PCGS and NGC grading company, a total of about 66 units of 25 pruta coins with the caption SPECIMEN are known and a full set is offered here.
Copernickel – 28 units
Bronze – 20 units
Aluminum – 18 units
Face: The denomination "25 Pruta" and the date in Hebrew, between them, the script SPECIMEN; two stylized olive branches around the rim.
Back: Cluster of grapes; "Israel" in Hebrew and Arabic.
