Israel - Pruta Coin set 1949 - Type 2 - UNC

Israel – Pruta Coin set 1949 – Type 2 – UNC

Second version – a small, thick inscription in gold printed on the Plexiglas plate.
This is how Kobi Liderman quoted Effi Sahik on his website regarding the three types of the current coin set (acorns next to this lot are the other 2 types)
In 1951, Bank Leumi became the authority that issues the banknotes and coins of the State of Israel.
Between 1952-1954, Bank Leumi prepared a special series of coins for distribution to tourists and collectors. Some of the series were awarded by the bank to visitors and guests and the balance was later sold to a distributor in the United States. This series of coins was issued in small quantity and is in great demand among collectors due to its uniqueness as the first official coin series in the country.
The series of coins was placed in a blue plastic case with sockets resembling an "egg pattern" with a transparent Plexiglas plate with a gilded inscription "State of Israel", the emblem of the state and the years’ 1949, 1950. The series incorporated a 25-mil coin as well as nine coins from the Pruta series, including a 250 Pruta coin and a 500 Pruta 50 Pruta coin with a dot (the rarer type). All coins bear the year of minting 1949.
About 300 such series are currently known. Over the years, slightly different versions have been discovered in terms of captions on them.
