Judaica / Zionism – Lot of 3 Gerlitz coins
Shekel Gerlitz first began minting in the German city of Gerlitz in the late 15th century and is named after her.
These imaginary medals, rich in the history of some 400 years, were originally created as souvenirs and amulets of pilgrims. The Jews used them as shekels for the ceremony of redemption of the son and later some of them also served the Freemasons in their various ceremonies. The medals usually bear the inscription "Shekel Yisrael" with the Omer Cup or Amphora on one side, and "Holy Jerusalem" with the staff of Aharon HaForach on the other side.
