Israel - 300 pruta 1948 - PMG 58.
Over the years’ the Bank of Israel received numerous proposals for various banknotes’ proposals which were not usually disclosed to the general public.
The sketch is one of the two known sketch of 300 pruta (their is another copy in bank israel museum). This originate from the period close to the establishment of the State, probably 1948-1952′ much like 50, 100 and 250 prutas.
This sketch have a nominal value of 300 prutas, with Hebrew text on one side of the banknote, and Hebrew and Arabic text on the other side.
This sketch is dark green and brown, showing the seashore, trees, a ship at sea and a serial number. On the other side are the signatures of E. Hoofien and A. Barth, with the text in both Hebrew and Arabic.
The signatures of E. Hoofien and A. Barth on this sketch are identical to those on the Anglo-Palestine banknotes of 1948. Hoofien was the manager of the bank and Barth was the chairman. Surprisingly, although The State of Israel appears on the sketch, the signatories were heads of the Anglo-Palestine Bank.
Extra rare.
Condition: graded 64 by PMG, about UNC.
